Instead of using fumed silica thixotropes in your industrial coatings or gel coats, consider a less dusty approach:
Replace some or all of your fumed silica with Zeothix® 265 finely milled precipitated silica from Huber Engineered Materials.

The rheology you get from Zeothix 265 improves the uniformity of your film’s thickness, especially for edge coverage.

Zeothix 265 is also much easier to work with during formulation. Although it’s a fine powder, it is more dense and easier to disperse than fumed silica. This means:

• Less dust in manufacturing
• Shorter mixing times
• Greater flexibility when you add the silica
  (Zeothix can be post added in-house or on-site)
• Better weathering (and less “alligatoring”)
• Less likelihood of air being incorporated into the film

Best of all: You get all of these advantages at a lower cost than fumed silica.
