Huber Engineered Materials was formed in 1998 by combining J.M. Huber Corporation’s Engineered Minerals Division and Chemicals Division.

Recent acquisitions:
In 2001, J.M. Huber Corporation acquired Noviant and its brands of specialty hydrocolloids and cellulosics. Noviant is recognized as a leader in the production of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), a valuable hydrocolloid. Noviant is headquartered in the Netherlands – reinforcing Huber’s global scope and reach.
In 2002, J.M. Huber Corporation acquired a specialty calcium carbonate and granulation facility in Benicia, Calif. This facility manufactures oyster shell calcium carbonate powder and granulations using a binder system and naturally mined as well as oyster shell calcium carbonate powders.
In 2004, J.M. Huber Corporation acquired CP Kelco a leader in xantham gum, carrageenan and pectin and recognized globally for food and beverage ingredient technology. Together with Noviant-branded hydrocolloids, these company represent the finest in specialty binding, suspension and rheology control agents.
In 2005, J.M. Huber Corporation acquired the alumina trihydrate (ATH) business of AluChem, Inc.
Accomplishments:
· Pioneered the use of precipitated silica for dentifrice applications and holds dozens of patents. Currently developing silica and silicates for use as polishing and/or thickening agents in toothpastes. Huber established a milestone in dental silica history in the 1990s when its work in precipitated silica resulted in creation of entirely new US Pharmacopoeia monograph. This standard is still in place today.
· Recognized globally for its mining of kaolin clay, Huber Engineered Materials is a leading supplier of Georgia water-washed and calcined kaolin. Huber is also a leading exporter of the specialty mineral. Our kaolin operations in Macon, Ga., have been in commission for seven decades.
· Manufactures naturally mined calcium carbonate (limestone) and harvested oyster shell calcium carbonate for use as a supplement in food, nutrition and nutraceutical formulating as well as antacid formulations in pharmaceuticals.
· Sells specialty excipients (non-active ingredients) including fast dissolve agents, carriers and glidants to drug manufacturers – prescription and over the counter.
· ISO-certified, many cGMP facilities, world-class application research and testing facilities that have enabled the commercialization of hundreds of new product lines and brand extensions.
