Huber introduced VertiCal™ calcium carbonate last night at the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industries’ (TAPPI) Polymer, Laminations, Adhesives, Coatings and Extrusions (PLACE) conference in Seattle. VertiCal is a specialty calcium carbonate grade and its benefits include include a narrow particle size distribution for more efficient cavitation in breathable and pearlescent BOPP film; excellent top cut for thin films and extrusion coating; and a uniformly distributed surface treatment with a high degree of chemical conversion.

Huber Set to Exhibit at Three Events; See You Next Week!

The week of May 7 will be a busy one at Huber Engineered Materials as you will have the opportunity to “meet us live” at three key events.

On May 7, we will discuss calcium carbonate at the Tappi Place 2012 Conference at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle.

From May 8 – 10, stop by booth 1033 at the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis to learn how our silicas and silicates, alumina trihydrate (ATH) products, calcium carbonates and barium sulfates can benefit you in your next paints, coatings, adhesives, caulks and sealants related application.

On May 9 and 10, our Health & Nutrition group will be at the Javits Center in the “Big Apple,” New York City at SupplySide MarketPlace in booth 562 to talk all about HuberCal® pure calcium carbonate and oyster shell and our other capabilities, including fluid bed granulations.

American Coatings Show Update

Huber Engineered Materials is looking forward to exhibiting at the American Coatings Show May 8 - 10 at the Indianapolis (Indiana) Convention Center. Huber’s location will be Hall H-K; Stand 1033.

Huber will be promoting:

Its high performing calcium carbonate extenders for paints and coatings, including bright white grades that range from coarse screened products down to 2 micron milled powder.
Alumina trihydrate (ATH) is a versatile tool for coating formulators as it imparts excellent balance of high brightness and contrast ratio while preserving tint strength. The particle size ranges from sub-micron to 80 microns.
Huber’s silicas and silicates will enable reduction of TiO₂ consumption and provide a cost savings in flat paints. Other benefits include improved optical properties, effective matting and rheology control to ultimately create a better end-use product.

Day one of Composites 2012 is in the history books, and it was a rousing success for Huber Engineered Materials. Thanks to everyone attending the event who stopped by booth 715 to see us live! It was great seeing some familar faces and some we got to know for the first time.

A lot of discussion today at Huber’s booth centered around MoldX® A100 and A105, two products making headlines as both high performing fire retardant additives work well in polyester composite systems, and MoldX A105 is for applications such as pultrusion, which require a top size of less than 40 microns.

Congratulations to Jeff Oleson from Copps Industries, who was the lucky winner of today’s drawing for the Kindle Fire! Stop by tomorrow, the last day of the show, for your chance to win. Stay tuned, more bloggin’ tomorrow!

The event opens tomorrow at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, runs through Thursday afternoon and there’s excitement in the air!
