Currently, Huber holds dozens of patents and is considered a worldwide leader in developing silica and silicates for use as polishing and/or thickening agents in toothpastes.
Huber established a milestone in dental silica history in the 1990s when its work in precipitated silica resulted in creation of entirely new US Pharmacopoeia monograph. This standard is still in place today.
Huber can control the characteristics of precipitated silica and silicates (PSS) to produce customized abrasivity to meet a wide variety of consumer preferences. This Controlled Function Technology® product modification approach results in a spectrum of PSS that offers expanded versatility as a dentifrice polish and a superior thickening agent, all while providing maximum fluoride compatibility.
Working closely with CP Kelco, a Huber affiliate and leading supplier of sodium carboxymethylcellulose and other hydrocolloids, the two companies are developing an ever-expanding portfolio of products to meet the needs of toothpaste manufacturers as well as producers of innovative oral care products.
Huber’s work in dental silica has provided scientific and business insight into many other regulated marketplaces.
