Huber Engineered Materials & CP Kelco To Co-Exhibit At IFT Trade Show in New Orleans

ATLANTA, GA., June 1, 2005Huber Engineered Materials, part of J.M. Huber Corporation, today announced it will be co-exhibiting with sister company, CP Kelco, part of the J.M. Huber Corporation, at this year’s Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting and exhibit (New Orleans, July 16 - 20, booth # 3926).

The unified presentation will offer formulators a “unique one-stop-shop” opportunity to learn more about key ingredients used in the development of food and beverage products, said Tim J. Butler, Huber’s senior manager, marketing communications.

Huber’s line-up includes specialty ingredients used in rheology, processing and fortification.  CP Kelco, a world leader in hydrocolloids, manufactures carrageenan, pectin, carboxymethyl cellulose, locust bean gum, gellan gum, Xanthan gum, diutan gum, welan gum, microparticulated whey protein concentrate and other novel biopolymers.

Precipitated Silica – Dump The Clump
Silica is a key ingredient in preventing adverse effects of nuisance moisture. For decades, Huber Engineered Materials has worked with manufacturers of food and food ingredients to optimize flow properties using food-grade silica as anti-caking and flow agents.

Just a small amount of silica can be formulated into spices, cake mixes, salt and powder blends to prevent clumping.

Silica is also used to maximize machinery throughput and fill weight when making food products. When used in processing, silica can help prevent moisture caking and build-up that collects on machinery.

Silica is also an effective “carrier.” These grades absorb substantial amounts of liquids, yet remain free-flowing with powder-like characteristics.

Confidence In Your Calcium Carbonate
Huber’s innovation does not stop there. The company also markets its HuberCal® brand to food manufacturers. HuberCal is a highly pure, consistent calcium carbonate powder that can be used in functional food for calcium fortification.

HuberCal is currently formulated in oatmeal, cereal, pancake mix, granola bars and variety of Now With Calcium-type food formulations.
