HUBER ENGINEERED MATERIALS ANNOUNCES GLOBAL PRICE INCREASE FOR ITS HUBERCAL® CALCIUM CARBONATE
ATLANTA — Huber Engineered Materials, part of J.M. Huber Corporation, today announced that prices for its food- and pharmaceutical-grade calcium carbonate products are on the rise.
The following increases will go into effect on October 15, 2005, or as contracts allow.
- HuberCal oyster shell and calcium carbonate granulations will increase by 10%.
- HuberCal natural mined powder will increase by 10%.
- HuberCal oyster shell powder will increase to $0.30/ lb.
Company officials cited escalating costs. “Increases in cost of raw materials, freight and energy are taking a toll on all manufacturing,” said Michael E. Tarquini, Ph.D., product manager for Huber’s health and nutrition group.
Huber manufactures the highly pure grades of Hubercal calcium carbonate in Quincy, Ill., and Benicia, Calif.
