ATLANTA, May 5, 2008 – Huber Engineered Materials (HEM), part of J.M. Huber Corporation, will showcase products and technical service capabilities from two of its Strategic Business Units (SBU) at this year’s IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo. The event is scheduled for June 28 – July 1, 2008, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La. Huber’s Health and Nutrition SBU will focus efforts on dietary supplements and its Silica SBU will discuss a variety of precipitated silica and silicate products used in spice blends, powdered foods and drink mixes as anti-caking and free-flow and processing aids.
Huber’s emphasis on dietary supplements will allow full utilization of its Modesto, Calif., operation, which is a cGMP compliant facility purchased in 2006 and is a key component of the company’s Health and Nutrition unit. Processing capabilities to be highlighted at the show include fluid bed granulation, blending and packaging for a variety of vitamins, minerals and specialty products.
“We’re currently consolidating our Benicia (Calif.) manufacturing assets to our facility in Modesto, and we’re very excited about the state-of-the-art technology and footprint in Modesto and the opportunities that are ahead,” says Mike Tarquini, Ph.D., business development director of Huber’s Health and Nutrition Unit. “The dietary supplements market is a key focus, as we see a tremendous growth opportunity with our manufacturing capabilities, quality assurance and outstanding customer service. In addition to our focus on processed nutritional ingredients, we offer custom processing of ingredients or development of the complete formula at our Modesto facility.”
Four updated technical literature brochures will be featured at the event to support Huber’s inSight™ silica and silicate product line-up. The pieces include discussion on silica/silicate for anti-caking/free-flow applications in food and for carrier and absorption in food and industrial applications. Huber technical experts will also be at the event to discuss how silica and silicates are used as anti-caking and free-flow agents as well as carriers for a variety of applications. In addition, silica can be a valuable processing additive to increase machinery throughput and minimize downtime due to caked ingredients and build-up.
“Huber spends a lot of time with its customers helping them solve difficult flow issues with food, spice blends and beverage mixes,” says Marianne Riemer, global sales director, specialty silica. “We replicate problems in the lab and offer customized solutions. At IFT, we will have technical service experts present to share their insight and explain our product capabilities.”
Huber’s booths #4800 and #4804 can be found at the IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans where technical and sales representatives will be discussing product options and sharing their technical service expertise.
