Huber Enters Into Agreement For Fire Retardant Products With Almatis

ATLANTA, Dec. 16, 2010 – Huber Engineered Materials (HEM), a division of J.M. Huber Corporation, and Almatis, Inc. (Almatis) have reached an agreement under which Almatis will toll produce for HEM certain specialty hydrate flame retardant products previously produced and marketed by Almatis.

HEM will immediately be the sales and marketing contact for the products and assumes responsibility for technical support. The specific products to be produced include Hydral® 710, Hydral® PGA and SpaceRite® grades.

“The addition of the Almatis product line will further strengthen HEM’s portfolio offering of non-halogen flame retardants,” says Jerry Bertram, Vice President and General Manager of HEM’s Industrial Minerals business.  “Along with HEM’s recent acquisition of the Kemgard® flame retardant and smoke suppressant business, we now have an extensive line of environmentally-friendly products for a variety of applications.  We are also very excited about the opportunity to work with Almatis’ former customers to continue supplying them with the high performing products they know, backed by HEM’s excellent technical expertise and customer support.”

HEM has been a trusted supplier of flame retardants and smoke suppressants for more than 30 years and produces value-added alumina trihydrate (ATH), magnesium hydroxide (MDH) and molybdate-based products and provides technical expertise for a variety of end-use applications, including carpet backing, fiber reinforced plastics, roofing, silicone rubber and wire and cable.  If you have questions or need further information about the HEM and Almatis tolling agreement, you can contact HEM at 1-866-JMHUBER (1-866-564-8237) or via email at hubermaterials@huber.com.
