Huber’s Fire Retardant Additives Business Introducing Two Technical Innovations at K 2016 Event

ATLANTA, GA (U.S.), October 5, 2016 - The Fire Retardant Additives (FRA) business unit, part of the Huber Engineered Materials division of J.M. Huber Corporation (Huber), is pleased to announce it is exhibiting at K 2016 from Oct. 19 to 26 in Dϋsseldorf, Germany.  K 2016 is the world’s largest trade fair for the plastics and rubber industries.  Following the February 2016 acquisition of Martinswerk GmbH, Huber is introducing two new technologies at the event.

The first innovation is a Martinal® highly loaded alumina trihydrate (ATH) core compound for aluminum sandwich panels, which meets Euroclass A2 requirements.  Specifically, the compound meets CPR A2s1d0 meaning low smoke formation and no generation of burning droplets.  Another unique feature of this patented core compound is that it allows manufacturers of aluminum sandwich panels to produce panels in a continuous production process, which brings several significant benefits, including increased throughput versus compression molding techniques.

Huber’s second innovation is its new Martoxid® Thermal Load Management (TLM) solutions, which provides superior heat dissipation and improved heat conductivity in polymer compounds and resins in a wide variety of thermoplastic and thermoset applications, such as E&E, automotive and thermal interface materials.  The newly developed Martoxid® TM-2000, TM-3000 and TM-4000 product series enable loading levels up to 90% and provide superior thermal conductivity performance up to 3 W/mK, whilst retaining important material properties.  This is a step change innovation to achieve extremely high loading levels whilst retaining important product properties, which opens up a wide variety application and market opportunities.

The Huber team will be pleased to welcome you at K 2016 in Hall 6, Stand D61 to provide more information about our innovations and broad portfolio of fire retardant additive solutions, as well as technical advice to improve the performance and processing of your product.

In addition, Huber Martinswerk, Dow Elastomers and Fraunhofer LBF will jointly present the state of the art and latest concepts in halogen-free polyolefin formulations at the Dow booth located in Hall 8A, Stand K48, on Oct. 20 from 11.00 to 11.30.

Huber is a global leader in the production of alumina trihydrate and magnesium hydroxide, both non-halogenated fire retardants.  Its FRA business unit has four manufacturing sites in North America and two in Europe.  Huber has been a trusted supplier of non-halogenated flame retardants and smoke suppressants for more than 30 years, manufacturing a large portfolio of value-added Martinal®, Hydral®, Hymod® and Micral® alumina trihydrate, Magnifin®, Vertex® and Zerogen® magnesium hydroxide and Kemgard® molybdate smoke suppressants for a variety of end-use applications, including reinforced polyester molding and pultrusion, engineering thermoplastics, roofing, silicone rubber, wire and cable, coatings and carpet backing.  In addition, Martinswerk produces Compalox® specialty oxides, Martoxid® calcined aluminium oxides and Pergopak® carriers and matting agents.
