Single-Ply Roofing

Huber developed surface-modified Alumina Trihydrate (ATH) and Magnesium Hydroxide (MDH) products to provide outstanding physical properties, water-resistance, fast dispersion and flame retardant performance for membranes used in roofing applications.  MDH is an excellent flame retardant, but its high polarity surface makes it somewhat incompatible with low polarity elastomers such as EPDM rubber and thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO).  The surface modification turns the hydrophilic surface into a hydrophobic surface allowing excellent compatibility with elastomers used in roofing.  This allows fast processing at high MDH loading levels.

Elastomeric Coatings

SB-432 has been the product of choice for use in elastomeric flame retardant roof coatings for over 25 years. By substituting some or all of the calcium carbonate with ATH, the flame retardance of the coating is improved to meet ASTM standards.
