Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S)

Only when our actions are in accord with our Principles, can we maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves as a Company.

Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S)

At the forefront of the Huber Principles is our commitment and dedication to working safely and protecting the environment.

Working safely is a critical component of Huber Engineered Materials (HEM).  Our Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) goal is to safely produce quality products in compliance with the laws and regulations throughout the world where we operate while minimizing environmental impact. Employees of HEM are committed to following responsible practices that result in world-class safety and environmental excellence. Our focus is to become the industry leader in protecting our people, managing environmental impact and ensuring a "sustainable" company as recognized by our customers.  Our ultimate goal is to achieve top decile EHS&S performance in our respective industry class.

We strive to diagnose and predict where an employee or contractor safety mishap could occur and take immediate and assertive action to stop that accident from occurring. HEM employs a comprehensive metric to assess safety and environmental performance, the Huber Environmental & Safety Score (HESS). It is a tool that helps build a sustainable safety culture as leading indicators for the score total include a site’s EHS&S plan completion, Minimum Mandatory Standards & Requirements (MMSR) assessments and leadership programs. Huber’s EHS&S management system has been designed to manage the following key areas:

Compliance

Huber manages its business activities to meet all applicable government laws and regulations, all internal Huber EHS&S standards, procedures, and commitments, and all other EHS&S requirements (external to the organization). Documented systematic efforts are in place to prevent, detect, and correct potential violations of EHS&S laws, regulations, permits, and enforceable agreements.

Performance

Huber is committed to continual improvement of its EHS&S performance. The Sustainability Performance Metrics total recordable injury rates and other EHS&S metrics are used to target and measure Huber’s EHS&S performance improvements.

Technology

Huber utilizes technology in innovative ways that is consistent with its goal of a net positive EHS&S impact and which is economically feasible to implement.
