Huber Wins Prestigious Global Family Business Award

ATLANTA, GA, October 23, 2013 – J.M. Huber Corporation the parent company of Huber Engineered Materials has been awarded one of the most prestigious honors for a family business:  the IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award for 2013.

Huber’s CEO Mike Marberry (center), accepts the 18th annual IMD-Lombard Odier Family Business Award in Rio de Janeiro at the 24th Summit of the Family Business Network International. With him are (from left) Huber family member Martha Huber, Huber Board Co-Chair Maria Lilja, Lombard Odier & Cie’s Alexis Lombard and IMD President Professor Dominique Turpin. Awarded by IMD, a top-ranked global business school based in Switzerland and Lombard Odier & Cie, a leading private banker in Europe, the annual prize recognizes a company that unites family interests with those of the business, and combines tradition and innovation while demonstrating a clear commitment to the local communities in which it operates.  Two key factors separate this award from others:  it is international in scope and highlights the contributions that family businesses and their employees make to the global economy.

“Huber is a superb example of a world-class family business that has stayed true to its entrepreneurial roots and guiding principles,” says Thierry Lombard, Managing Partner of Lombard Odier & Cie and Chairman of Family Business Network International.  “I am highly impressed by this company’s inclusiveness and by the quality of the dialogue within the family.”

In addition to Huber Engineered Materials, Huber’s portfolio of companies includes Huber Engineered Woods, CP Kelco, Demica and Huber Resources Corp.  These diverse businesses supply engineered materials to a variety of industries including food, pharmaceuticals, beverages, household products, oral care, paper, plastics and construction.  Huber joins a distinguished list of family-owned businesses that have earned the IMD-Lombard Odier Award.  Past winners include the Merck Group, S.C. Johnson Enterprises and the LEGO Group.

“The Huber family has a solid understanding of the business and supports us in all of our endeavors.  We are fortunate the family members are so actively involved — they serve on boards, visit our facilities and are engaged in ongoing efforts toward responsible business practices and environmental sustainability,” says Andy Trott, President of Huber Engineered Materials.  “Winning the award is also a testament to the outstanding efforts of our employees and the support of our customers.”
